RIO BRAVO CHILDREN'S HOME

Around twenty years ago, former teacher Ray Hansen and his wife, Leah, were led by God to cross the boarder of Texas into the city of Reynosa, Mexico and begin ministering to orphans and children of single mothers with the Good News of Jesus Christ and with a quality education. Since then, Rio Bravo has grown into a children's home that houses nearly 100 children and a school that educates nearly 300.  Many children who came to Rio Bravo as toddlers are now graduates of the school and have entered college or obtained quality jobs.

Each year, members of Byhalia UMC team up with Collierville UMC to spend a week at Rio Bravo doing repairs additions to the campus will ministering to the children.  This year's trip is scheduled for October 27-November 4.  If you would like more information about the trip, contact Bill Sikma at 901-262-7716.  If you would like to give to Rio Bravo, click on the "GIVE" tab at the top of this page.

 

Jacob's Well

Led by God's love for the "least of these" in developing countries, Ray Butler of Byhalia UMC began traveling to Central American countries like Guatemala, Costa Rica, and El Salvador with an organization called One Project At a Time (OPAT) installing water filtration systems in remote villages. 

When Ray saw the abject poverty and poor living conditions many of the families were facing, he felt led to help.  What started out as a clean water mission has now turned into a home building ministry, providing safe housing for dozens of families who previously living under plastic sheathing.  This is a great ministry to support by giving $20 per month!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Hearts and Hands Ministries - This local outreach ministry which exists wholly on private donations  provides food for the body and soul of the under resourced in our area.  Byhalia United Methodist Church supports them with financial donations and physical labor.  We work together to serve Christ by serving others through intentional acts of love.  Call  Hearts and Hands Ministries directly at 662-838-8899.
